Medusa
Used for the decorative arts and often reserved for the pleasure of the upper crust of society, porcelain is an everlasting symbol of refinement and taste. But in the hands of artist Chris Vicini, it twists into nightmarish forms where plant, animal and human merge. His sculptures offers sharp contrast to the delicate porcelain figurines of the 18th & 19th century, demonstrating a darker esthetic that reinvents the perception of the medium. It is both fascinating and disturbing.
